Robot Grand Challenge at Fairview Elementary School

Jameson Bowman, left, and Aniyah Powell of the American Coding team compete in the Robot Grand Challenge during Ready, Set, Robots! camp Friday, May 10, 2019 at Fairview Elementary School in Bloomington, Ind. The camp was led by Tony Brazzell, principal network engineer, in the UITS Campus Networks group at Indiana University, and the students utilized kits from the LEGO¨ Mindstorms¨ series. TJ Howard, Gage James, and Kailynn Hollers were also on the American Coding team. Several teams competed in the event after students learned computer programming, and networking to make the robots work. The robots executed a series of tasks that involved finding colors on a flat surface, and upon completion of finding all the colors, the robots were programmed to celebrate.
