Tornado leaves path of damage in Monroe County

Adria Sims stands outside the trailer she rode with her mother Mary Ellen Smith as it was picked by a tornado, and then stopped by a falling tree during last night’s tornado on W. Chafin Chapel Rd., Sunday, June 16, 2019 near Ellettsville, Ind. A tornado struck the area Saturday night leaving a patch of damage from Greene County to Northern Monroe County destroying trees, homes, cars, and leaving a path of debris and live power lines on the ground in its wake. Power might be out for a week or more as workers deal with snapped utility poles and broken power lines in the tornado’s path. Some natural gas lines were also damaged as root balls from trees snapped the lines in half as they were uprooted. (Photo by Jeremy Hogan/The Bloomingtonian)
