Protesters stand in empty Schooners Creek stall

Protesters stand in the empty C8 stall where Schooners Creek usually sells vegetables at the Farmers’ Market, Saturday, June 22, 2019 in Bloomington, Ind. Schooners Creek Farm’s owners did not show up to sell vegetables Saturday morning, so several of their supporters stood in the empty stall waiting, but eventually left. Activists have alleged the farmers are part of a hate group, but the farmers are saying what the activists are saying isn’t true. The City of Bloomington has said it cannot ban the farmers because they have 1st Amendment rights. When the stall was finally empty, two protesters showed up with signs and stood in the space. A woman, who said she is against Nazis, but has concerns about how banning the farmers for their beliefs might affect free speech, began to debate them, while the protesters gave their side to support their tactics. A video of the conversation is posted below. (Photo by Jeremy Hogan/The Bloomingtonian)
