UAW and GM reach tentative agreement, workers in Bedford remain on picket line

UAW leaders announced Oct 16, 2019 they have reached a tentative deal with General Motors to end a nationwide strike that began September 16th. According to the GM website the Bedford casting plant, “produces transmission casings, converter housings, heads, and small gas engine blocks that are used in Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles.” Workers must vote on and ratify the contract before workers go back to work. Union local leaders from Bedford have traveled to Detroit to meet with UAW leadership Thursday.
