Indiana University experiences power outage, Duke working to restore power

Update from IU spokesperson Chuck Carney, “We are expecting to have everything back up with power by 6:30 or shortly thereafter. We lost power to 55 buildings total. And a clarification about how this started: at around 10:14, an incident at the Duke substation off campus caused there to be an over surge at our distribution center. That caused the arc and the failure at the distribution center on campus which caused a small fire and melted the cable.”

Duke Energy is currently working to restore power to 47 building across the Indiana University campus according to IU spokesperson Chuck Carney.

Carney said workers from Duke don’t know the exact cause of the cable failure, but are working to have power restored across campus.
