Grand Opening of Switchyard Park

The Mayor of Bloomington, along with others, including two former mayors John Fernandez, and Tomi Allison, spoke during the Grand Opening Ceremony of Switchyard Park, Saturday night. The ceremony was followed by a ribbon cutting, and the Hamilton turning on the lights at the new park, which was years in the planning, and construction. After the lights were on an announcement by was made by Cook Group President Pete Yonkman that the B-Town Boom fireworks would be in the park July 2, 2020, and then there was a fireworks display.

Opening festivities for the park continue Sunday, November 17, beginning at 11 a.m.

11:00 AM – 11:15 AM Bloomington Community Band on the platform outside the Pavilion

11:00 AM – 3:00 PM Try new fitness equipment on the B-Line Trail

11:15 AM – 11:30 AM Welcome by Mayor John Hamilton

11:30 AM – 12:15 PM Live music by the Bloomington Community Band

11:30 AM – 2:45 PM Golf cart tours of Switchyard Park, leaving from the Pavilion

11:30 AM – 3:00 PM Bloomington Indiana Scholastic Chess Club demonstrations at the Bosque

11:30 AM – 3:00 PM Viewing platform and selfie station

11:30 AM – 3:00 PM Monroe Co. History Center and Monon RR Historical-Technical Society in the Picnic Shelter

11:30 AM – 3:00 PM Pickleball and Bocce Ball demos and try-its at the sport courts

11:30 AM – 3:00 PM Mock birthday party in the Picnic Shelter

11:30 AM – 3:00 PM Visit the daylighted Clear Creek

11:30 AM – 3:00 PM Food trucks at the Pavilion

11:30 AM – 3:00 PM Preview Switchyard Park Community Gardens

11:30 AM – 3:00 PM Skating and demos with Hunger Skateparks at Switchyard Park Skatepark

11:30 AM – 3:00 PM Three Point Shot contest at the basketball court

12:30 PM – 1:30 PM Live music by Busman’s Holiday
