
Update: The Bloomington Police Department said in a press release that a 17-year-old male was arrested is facing attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting a 26-year-old man at 3811 E. Morningside Drive at around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in Bloomington, Ind.
According to the press release the alleged shooter, and his victim had been in previous disputes over “girls.” The press release says, police located the 26-year-old victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Witnesses according to the press release gave the name of the shooter, and a description of the vehicle he left in. According to the press release the vehicle was stopped at 17th Street and College Ave., and a gun was found on the alleged shooter.

“The Bloomington Police Department arrested a juvenile male for shooting another man at a residence on the city’s East side.
On Wednesday, January 1st, 2020 at 11:40pm, officer responded to 3811 East Morningside Dr. for a male who had been shot in the parking lot. On scene officers located a 26 year old male who was suffering from gunshot wounds.
Witnesses were able to give the name of the shooter and vehicle description he left the scene in. Officers located and stopped the vehicle at 17th Street and College Avenue. The suspect, a 17 year old male was taken into custody without incident. While taking him into custody, a handgun was located on his persons.
During the investigation it was learned the shooting stemmed from a previous incidents between the two males where there had been disputes over girls. The suspect went to the address on Morningside Drive to confront the victim. At some point during the confrontation, the suspect fired several rounds at the victim striking him twice. Once in the right arm and once on his right side. The victim was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he is being treated for his wounds.
The 17 year old suspect was transported to a juvenile detention center awaiting court. The juvenile was charged with Attempted Murder Level “A” Felony.
No more information will be released at this time. The case is still active and under investigation by Bloomington Police Department. “

Bloomington Police are investigating a Near Year’s Day shooting in the 3800 block of E. Morningside Drive Wednesday night in Bloomington. Scanner traffic from the Bloomington Police Department dispatch frequency at 11:42 p.m. indicated a man said he was shot, and the dispatcher said there was screaming in the background.
Members of law enforcement began looking for a black Nissan Xterra, and made a traffic stop at the intersection of N. College, and 17th Street and held the occupants at gunpoint. The Bloomingtonian arrived as law enforcement officers were still arresting the occupants of the suspect vehicle at gunpoint. Law enforcement from several agencies, including the Bloomington Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and the IU Police Department, surrounded the vehicle, and as the occupants were still at gunpoint, with their hands in the air they were detained, and put into vehicles. Police radio traffic indicated there were four occupants in the vehicle.
Police scanner traffic indicated that a 9mm handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
The Bloomingtonian headed to an apartment building in the 3800 block of E. Morningside drive where officers were investigating. At least six markers were in the parking lot at the scene of the shooting, as officers investigated the area cordoned off with police tape.
No information was available on the shooting victim’s condition.
