A Facebook post shortly before 6 p.m., Tuesday on the page for Lucky’s Bloomington Market announced the local store is being closed permanently.
“There has been some recent news circulating about Lucky’s stores closing. Unfortunately, our Bloomington store will be closing and starting tomorrow, we will be offering significant discounts on all products in the store,” said the Lucky’s Bloomington Market post on Facebook.
Rumors spread Tuesday on Facebook that the Bloomington store would close by February 12, and some commenters, who said they are employees at the market, said they were told during a morning employee meeting about the closing. The Bloomingtonian reached out to Lucky’s national headquarters but did not get a reply.
The post on the local market’s Facebook page also said, “We want to thank you for shopping with us. We’ve made some amazing friendships and together have supported some incredible community organizations. We’ll be open 7-7 on Wednesday, and 10-6 going forward.”
A news article posted on Progessive Grocer’s website said the Boulder Company is closing as many as 32 or its 39 stores after Kroger, which invested in the company in 2016, divested.
