Firefighters from the Bloomington Fire Department were dispatched to a fire in a maintenance shed in the 1200 block of W. Allen Street around 10:50 p.m., Tuesday night, as temperatures dipped into the low 20s.

For those traveling in vehicles on W. Allen between Patterson, and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard, it’s worth noting that fighting the fire left the street, in both directions, covered in water, which quickly became ice. Until a crew from the city arrives to treat the surface of the street with salt, and other materials, the road will remain hazardous to motorists. Some vehicles were seen driving around the fire vehicles on W. Allen, and then sliding on the ice at the bottom of the hill when they hit their brakes.
