The Bloomingtonian reached out to Monroe County Health Department administrator Penny Caudill who confirmed that as of 4:29 p.m., March 3, 2020 there are no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Indiana, which includes Bloomington, and Monroe County.
Information on the health department’s website reads, “Prevention for coronavirus (COVID-19) is the same for the flu! Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds!”
A notice on the heath department’s site reads, “The Monroe County Health Department, Public Health Clinic, ISDH, IU and local hospitals are closely monitoring the ongoing outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) related illnesses in individuals who recently traveled in East Asia or Southeast Asia. Most cases are mild and most have recovered without issue. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and communicate as more information comes available.
