MCCSC schools closed from March 13-27 after families are exposed to others displaying symptoms of COVID-19/Coronavirus

The MCCSC (Monroe County Community School Corporation) announced Thursday that its schools will be closed from Friday, March 13 through Friday, March 27 saying in a statement, “we were notified that families have been exposed to others displaying symptoms of the COVID-19/Coronavirus.”

All practices, and extracurricular activities are canceled as well according to the statement, but IHSAA state contests are an exception.

The statement says that all school buses, and buildings will be deep cleaned during the closure.

The Bloomingtonian checked with the county health department Thursday afternoon, and the department had still did not have confirmation that a Coronavirus test had a positive result in Monroe County, but noted private tests that are positive are reported to the health department.
