Bloomington restaurants adapting in response to COVID-19/Coronavirus outbreak

By Marci Creps

While many area restaurants remain open, others are changing their business in response to coronavirus concerns. All the restaurants listed below have reiterated with staff the importance of hand washing and staying home when feeling ill.

BUFFALOUIE’S

While the restaurant has always employed rigorous cleaning standards, the owners have expanded Buffalouie’s cleaning schedule and implemented more frequent cleanings, according to a Facebook post.

The restaurant has also decided to use only its own delivery drivers. “Our delivery drivers are employees of the company and follow our high standards for excellence. In these uncertain times, food delivery will be an important option, and we are doing everything we can do to deliver quality food in a safe manner,” the post states.

Buffalouie’s is also offering the delivery of a free lunch for Monroe County Community School Corp.’s students who are eligible for the free lunch program. It asks that parents direct message the restaurant on Facebook.

While the restaurant remains open, it will also suspend all delivery fees within its delivery area. The restaurant is at 114 S. Indiana Ave.

DARN GOOD SOUP

At Darn Good Soup, the restaurant will be offering carry-out service only. It closed its dining room on March 13. The restaurant is at 107 N. College Ave.

SOUTHERN STONE AND UNDERGROUND BAKERY

The Wow Food Group, which owns both Southern Stone and Underground Bakery, said in a press release that it has implemented hourly sanitation schedule “that includes disinfecting all doorknobs and surfaces that guests may commonly come in contact with during their visit.”

Underground Bakery is at 3631 W. State Road 46 near Ellettsville.

Southern Stone is at 405 W. Patterson Drive.
