By Marci Creps

Despite COVID-19 concerns, the Community Kitchen assures clients it will remain open as long as possible.

In a Facebook post March 13, Community Kitchen said it is taking extra precautions by increasing the frequency of sanitizing surfaces and points of contact. All sign-in sheets have also been removed to help cut down on the sharing of paper and pencil. It has also implemented “multiple layers of additional safety precautions” although it did not specify what those precautions are.

The dining room remains open but it has created more personal distance to minimize interactions between people while they are eating. Warm, carryout meals are also being offered.

Sit down meals are offered at 1515 S. Rogers St. from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Meals consist of a main entree with a vegetarian option, side vegetable, salad, fruit, dessert and beverage.

An express location is at 1100 W. 11th Street and is open 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Meals at the express location are provided on a carryout bases with a limit of two per person.
