Firefighters from the Northern Monroe Fire Territory responded to a suspicious structure fire overnight in the 6600 block of N. Old State Rd. Ind. 37 according to a press release.
A homeowner said he heard something that sounded odd, and then noticed an orange glow outside, said the press release. When the homeowner looked outside he saw his garage on fire.
Firefighters soon arrived after being dispatched shortly after 1 a.m., to find a detached garage on fire a few feet from the house, according to the NMFT. Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line between the house and garage to keep the house from catching fire, but some siding melted from the heat, according to the release.
Firefighters knocked down the fire in about thirty minutes, but had to remove debris due to a collapsed roof to get to hidden fires in the garage, said the NMFT. The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the release.
