Firefighters from the Monroe Fire Protection District responded to a well involved fire in a single story structure in the 3600 block of South Rogers Street Sunday night.

Firefighters were called around 9:15 when a neighbor’s son saw the fire from a window, and told his parents, according to MFPD PIO Jason Allen. When firefighters arrived they began to attack the fire from the car port area, said Allen. Firefighters conducted a primary, and secondary search of the home, and found three cats that had died in the fire, said Allen.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but is under investigation, said Allen.
