Arrest made after Monday robbery

An arrest has been made in an armed robbery reported Monday night at a northside hotel.

Otis Hicks, 31, of Bloomington, faces preliminary charges of robbery while armed with a deadly weapon, a level 3 felony; carrying a handgun without a license by a convicted felon, a level 5 felony; and dealing in methamphetamine (over 10 grams), a level 2 felony.

According to a report by Bloomington police, officers were called to the Hampton Inn in the 2100 block of North Walnut Street on March 30 on the report of an armed robbery.

On Tuesday afternoon, investigators located the suspect near the Super 8 hotel in the 1700 block of North Stonelake Drive.

Police said investigators took Hicks into custody without incident and found a loaded Glock 9mm handgun with an extended magazine on the suspect. The weapon matched the description provided by the victim, police said.

Police also found approximately 19 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine on Hicks, according to the report.

All charges are mere allegations unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
