Indiana National Guard assists Pantry 279

Members of the Indiana National Guard, who have been activated during thew COVID-19/Coronavirus emergency helped volunteers at Pantry 279 Monday.

Four members of the Indiana National Guard, from various units, wore balaclavas, and helped volunteers. Cindy Chavez, of Pantry 279, said volunteers at the food pantry are exhausted, but when she was asked for help, she only wanted help from the National Guard. The food pantry, which normally helps people in need of food assistance, has been swamped during the past few weeks, and last week Chavez posted photos of empty shelves.

So, Monday, the Indiana National Guard scrambled, and answered the call for assistance. And several guard members worked into the afternoon, after unloading the trucks, and helping organize food, to load boxes into cars.
