Burglaries, shots fired, and theft

Micro Motors burglarized

Police report that Micro Motor car repair in the 100 block of W. Grimes, had the glass in the front door smashed, and the business was burglarized before officers arrived around 7:37 a.m. Monday.

A person at a nearby business heard an audible alarm coming from the business, and called the police, who arrived, checked the interior, and found nobody inside, but that entry was gained through a rear entrance. Police said it was unknown at this time what was stolen.

Vehicle windows shot out

Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of W. Illinois Ct., after reports of shots fired, and found two vehicles with the windows shot out, Monday, according to the police.

Several individuals were present, and advised police nobody had been injured as a result of the shooting, but refused to cooperate with the police stating they did not know the identity of the shooter, according to the police. Three empty 9mm shell casings were found by police at the scene behind a residence. A third round struck the overhang of a patio to an apartment at 1400 W. Illinois Ct.

The surrounding area has been the scene of several gun incidents involving shots fired over the past year. A man was shot in the leg during a shooting in the area during Labor Day weekend in 2019, and similarly, individuals at the scene did not cooperate with the police.

Items taken from man experiencing homelessness

Police said a man, who is experiencing homelessness, and was asleep near a trail on the north side of Gordon Pike, reported an unknown person stole his thermal lunch bag, and government issued cell phone, during the overnight hours of April 11.

Gun shop burglarized

The American Arms gun shop in the 4500 block of W. State Road 45 has been burglarized, according to the police. The case is still being generated, and more details are not available at this time.
