Police investigating after hacker Zoom-bombs and shuts down Board of Public Safety meeting Tuesday

Police are investigating after a hacker shut down the Board of Public Safety meeting by Zoom-bombing it Tuesday night, according to Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo.

Pedigo said police detectives are now working to determine who is responsible for what he called disgusting, racist, and inappropriate comments, and if a crime was committed when a person took on the identity of another person.

“It is extremely disheartening that someone would hack in, and end the meeting,” said Pedigo. The meeting would have allowed the public to express opinions on police reform.

Pedigo said he is very sorry community members that had to hear the disgusting, and racist content of the hacker.

The Board of Public Safety oversees the Police and Fire Departments.
