Emergency workers responded to a three-vehicle accident at Smithville Rd., and Fairfax around 12:57 p.m. on Saturday. It was one family’s second non-injury accident in less than 2 hours.
The passenger of a black Rogue car, Roberto Mejia, said the driver of a Jeep ran a stop sign and collided with a red truck, before one of the vehicles collided with the black all-wheel Rogue he was traveling in. Mejia said it was the second accident his family had been involved in during the past couple of hours time. A car had run a stop sign earlier at another location, and also hit the car.
The driver of the car Mejia was traveling in said neither accident had been her fault. Family members traveling in the car hugged, but were shaken by the two incidents. They unloaded items from their car and put it in another vehicle since the battered Rogue was undrivable.
Nobody at the scene of the second accident was injured. Fairfax Road was shut down while occupants of the vehicles were checked by EMS workers, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department investigated, and the scene was cleaned up as the vehicles were towed away. Monroe Fire Protection District also responded to offer help.
