Police investigating Wednesday night homicide in Bloomington

The Bloomington Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in Bloomington last night, according to a press release sent to media by the BPD this morning.

The text of the release reads:

“The Bloomington Police Department is investigating a shooting at an apartment complex on the south side of the City. One victim died as a result of the shooting.

On July 22nd at approximately 11:25 p.m., officers from the Bloomington Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 3200 block of S Walnut Springs Drive in reference to a call of a man shot in a parking lot. The caller reported that the man was lying in a pool of blood and appeared to be unresponsive. Officers arrived on scene and located Thomas M. Pleasant, Jr. (28, Bloomington) with a gunshot wound to the neck. Officers immediately began CPR until the arrival of an ambulance. The victim was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. The man was declared deceased at the hospital at 12:18 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are currently attempting to locate possible witnesses for interviews.
