The Bloomington Fire Department responded to the corner of Fairview and 4th Street at approximately 4:12 p.m after communication lines became electrified by electric power lines Monday afternoon.

A member of the Bloomington Fire Department told The Bloomingtonian that three homes were affected, and the communication box on at least one of the three homes had caught fire.

Firefighters alerted Duke, and closed the street while waiting for workers contracted to the power company to come and shut off the power.
