Man steals 45-dollars of merchandise from liquor store for being told to wear a mask

A man stole items worth about 45-dollars from a Bloomington liquor store apparently in retaliation for being asked to wear a mask Tuesday.

Police responded to the Big Red Liquors in the 2400 block of S. Walnut Street Pike after a report of shoplifting Tuesday.

When police arrived a worker in the business reported that sometime before 5:30 p.m. a white male with long black hair, and a black beard had entered without a mask. The employee told the man he needed to wear a mask, but the man ignored the worker and grabbed a 1.75-liter bottle of tequila from a shelf. The employee then told the man a second time that he needed to wear a mask, but the man grabbed a 1-liter bottle of cranberry juice, and a 2-liter bottle of Sprite, and said he was getting the items no matter what.

The employee then told the man he would not complete the sale until the man put on a mask, and it was then, the man walked out of the store with the three items, which police said are valued at about 45-dollars.
