Collision at 11th and Fairview left 1399 Duke customers without power; vehicle occupants flee scene

Police were looking for the occupants of an inverted Jeep that was involved in a collision at the intersection of 11th and Fairview just before 12:46 a.m.

As first responders were arriving at least two individuals fled the scene of the collision on foot, according to police radio traffic.

The collision left a powerline laying across Rogers, and Bloomington firefighters were examining the crashed vehicle, which was leaking fluids into a storm drain. The Bloomington Police Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Office closed streets in all four directions.

The collision left at least 1399 customers in Bloomington without power, according to the Duke Energy outage map. Details of the outage read, “The outage was caused by an object coming into contact with our power lines.” The estimated time of power restoration was estimated to be 4:15 a.m.

The police continued looking for the occupants of the vehicle.
