Man found after apparent suicide at Griffy Lake Nature Preserve

A man was found after an apparent suicide at Griffy Lake Nature Preserve, according to Bloomington Police Sgt. Cody Forston.

A passerby reported seeing a van parked with the engine running Sunday but came back Monday to find the van still parked without the engine running. Police were called to conduct a welfare check.

When officers arrived they discovered a 62-year-old male who had died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head. The van was parked in the 3400 block of N. Headley Rd.

Inside the vehicle police found a note reading, “Peace out. Just call 911.”

The identity of the man is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
