After a car became stuck in the snow a man who helped get the car free stole it, according to Bloomington Police Capt. Ryan Pedigo.
Police were called around 9:28 a.m. Tuesday, February 16th by a man who wanted to report his 2019 dark blue Honda Civic had been stolen. The man told police he left his apartment around 6 a.m. to get a cup of coffee but his car slid and got stuck in the snow at the intersection of S. Winslow Pike and E. Winslow Rd.
The 59-year-old man left the car where it was to walk back to his apartment to call a tow company for help, and then walked back to the vehicle. While the man was waiting for a tow truck two “younger white men” in a dark SUV pulled up. They offered to help the man get his car out of the snow, and one of them got into the vehicle. The man got the car free from the snow, but then drove away turning left to head south on Walnut Street.
The man stood there expecting the man to turn the car around and bring it back, but he never did. After walking back to his apartment someone told the man he needed to call the police and report the car stolen, according to Pedigo.
