Earlier story:
Bloomington Police are investigating a shooting that occurred around 12:15 a.m., Thursday, which left a woman injured from a gunshot to the back, according to police scanner traffic.
Two vehicles, which had collided, came to a stop on the sidewalk in front of a restaurant in the 1700 block of N. College Avenue. Police were looking for at least one suspect who left the scene. Police questioned another person at the scene. Plastic parts were torn off as at least one of the vehicles that had collided with a curb. The vehicles, a red car, and a gray car, came to a rest side by side.
The scene was quickly surrounded with yellow tape as police tried to sort out what had occurred. Residents in the area reported hearing several gunshots fired rapidly before police arrived.
A man was shot and killed in another location nearby last summer.
The Bloomingtonian does not have more information on the shooting at this time, but this story will be updated.
Editor’s note: The Bloomington was unaware there had been a fatality when these photos were posted as police investigating don’t speak to the media, and the police didn’t this morning. The Bloomington followed up during the daily police briefing and learned an 18-year-old woman had died. The woman had driven the gray Honda after being shot in the 1400 block of N. Woodburn Avenue before hitting a curb and crashing into the red Sonata. However, at the time these images were published the suspect had not been arrested, and many in the area had heard the gunshots. Please see the press release above for more information.
