The Bloomingtonian has gathered scanner traffic from a pursuit involving law enforcement and a car allegedly traveling at speeds over 100 mph on Saturday, April 17, 2021, in western Monroe County near Bloomington, Indiana.
The car caught fire and later exploded according to members of law enforcement speaking on radio dispatches archived on OpenMHZ.com.
The pursuit began before 9 a.m. and ended near the intersection of Ind. State Rd. 45 and S. Dinsmore Rd. Members of law enforcement attempted to get the driver out of the burning vehicle but were unable to do so because of the fire.
The pursuit had been called off by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department due to high speeds.
Monroe County Coroner Joani Shields only confirmed to the Bloomingtonian that the driver of a vehicle involved in a collision on Dinsmore road has died.
The Bloomingtonian has reached out to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department for more information but has not received a response.
