A group of protesters gathered outside the Catalent facility in Bloomington Wednesday, where COVID-19 vaccines are being manufactured, to ask for the end of vaccine patents, to allow production in more countries, and for the United States to use its manufacturing capacity to provide vaccines to world citizens needing vaccination.
The pandemic continues to grip in India, and is a risk to the global supply of vaccines:
Yahoo news published an extensive article first published in the Los Angeles Times on some of the issues that are slowing down worldwide vaccination. The article is at this link:
About a dozen protesters gathered on Patterson and held signs, and also urged United States president Joe Biden to step into the issue, and help waive the vaccine patents.
As the protesters held their signs, some passers-by honked in support, while the driver of a silver vehicle disagreed and called them idiots. As the protest was nearly wrapped up, the driver of a silver diesel-powered truck stopped at the light, then revved his engine, and left the protesters in a cloud of black exhaust.
A group of private security at Catalent watched, and photographed the protesters from a distance.
Former Vice President Mike Pence was at the facility in December to help promote Operation Warp Speed.
