License plates switched during theft of dealer plate

A dealer license plate was stolen, and other plates switched to other vehicles in Bloomington over the weekend, according to Bloomington Police Capt. Ryan Pedigo.

Officers arrived at an address Sunday in the 3200 block of E. Longview Ave., after a man reported his dealer license plate had been stolen. The man found somebody else’s license plate had been put onto his vehicle.

Police tracked the license plate to an address in the 200 block of S. Bryan, and found a woman who said she’d just sold the vehicle. When police found the vehicle in the 3100 block of Braeside Dr., they discovered the plate on the vehicle belonged to a man in the same neighborhood. Police returned the plate to the man.

However, the dealer plate that belonged to the first caller is still missing.
