Gallery: Protest Saturday to end U.S. funding of Israeli military

May 22, 2021; Bloomington, Indiana: Protesters gather at the Monroe County Courthouse to demand the Biden administration stop funding the Israeli military after the recent chapter in a decades-long conflict resulting in another short war between Hamas in Palestine and Israel. Hamas rocketed Israel, and Israel retaliated by bombing buildings in the Palestinian territory, including the office building of the Associated Press. Over 200 were killed before a ceasefire was brokered between the warring factions last week, but protesters on the Monroe County Square say the underlying political conditions which led to the conflict have not been resolved. Israel has occupied Palestine since the 6 Day War of 1967. A two-state solution to the conflict was being brokered in the 1990s before Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by an extremist right-wing Israeli.
