Multiple windows smashed around downtown Bloomington during vandalism spree over last several days

A person went on a window smashing spree in the early hours of June 7th, according to Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo.

Police were dispatched to the Circle K gas station at Kirkwood and Rogers around 1:32 a.m. after a rock put a large hole in a window and cracked the glass throughout the window. Police reviewed surveillance video and saw an unknown person ride up on a bicycle before a rock was thrown through the window.

Around 2:38 a.m. an employee of the Alley Bar on W. Kirkwood reported that a unknown white male with a bald head threw a brick through the glass front door before leaving west on Kirkwood. Soon workers at Taco Bell called the police after hearing glass shattering in the area, and when officers looked for damage, they discovered someone threw a “medium sized” rock through a window at La Una Cantina at the corner of 7th and N. Walnut.

Police were called to Ace Pawn Shop in the 500 block of S. Walnut Street after a window was broken sometime around 5:30 a.m. setting off an alarm. Police were called to the Bauer Law Firm in the 600 block of W. Third around 7:59 a.m. after a front window of the business was broken by a rock.

Police responded to the 400 block of S. Walnut around 9:05 a.m. after a window was broken by a rock.

Police do not have a suspect yet for the rash of broken windows.

Three offices, and another address all in the 400 block of W. 1st Street also had windows broken with rocks, but it’s believed the windows were broken on the 1st of June, rather than on the 7th when all the windows reported above were smashed.

The Shalom Center, in the 600 block of S. Walnut also had a window broken around 11:35 a.m. on the 7th of June, but police may have a suspect.
