Joke 100-dollar bill used at Kroger gas station in Bloomington

A fake 100-dollar bill was used at Kroger Gas Station Wednesday in Bloomington, according to Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo.

The bill, which had Benjamin Franklin’s face, and was modeled after an actual bill, also had writing on the front reading, “It’s not the money, it’s the joke.” There was other writing as well, including Cyrillic letters, and other phrases that do not appear on a real 100-dollar note.

The gas station is located in the 500 block of S. Liberty Dr., and the fake money was passed before 6:54 p.m.

The person who used the counterfeit 100-dollar bill took 10 dollars of gas and 90 dollars in real currency as change.

The criminal case is still active.
