Saturday vehicle pursuit begins after police identify a license plate reported stolen

Police took the driver of a Jeep into custody after a pursuit Saturday night in Bloomington, according to Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo.

Police began to follow the vehicle because the license plate was reported stolen. When police attempted to stop the Jeep around 11:30 p.m., the driver took police on a 3.5-mile pursuit beginning near the area of Kirkwood Avenue and N. Adams and ending off-road near a woodline north of The Reserve at Chandler’s Glen apartment complex in the 1300 block of N. Arlington Park Dr.

Later the owner of the vehicle told police she’d given the driver custody of the Jeep while repairing it. And that a family member had previously returned license plates, but police had not been informed the stolen plates were returned. The plates were reported stolen on March 17, 2021.

The driver who had an active arrest warrant, and was taken to jail.
