BFD to Offer Lead Level Testing to Residents After Controlled Burn

Bloomington, Ind. – Bloomington Fire Department (BFD) personnel will offer finger-prick blood testing for any resident concerned about elevated lead levels after the November 5 controlled burn. The testing will take place on Saturday, December 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at BFD headquarters, 226 South College Avenue. Additional testing may be made available if demand warrants.

BFD firefighters have been trained to offer this testing through a continued partnership with the Monroe County Health Department. Test results received Thursday, December 2 of blood samples collected from firefighters who were operating at the controlled burn showed no detectable lead levels.
