Man and dog attacked by another dog on Near Westside Friday

A man and his dog were attacked by a dog at Sixth and Maple in the Near Westside neighborhood Friday, according to Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo.

Police were called around 10:12 p.m. Friday night after a man reported that what he believed was a Pitbull attacked his dog, then bit him. The man tried to intervene when a dog attacked his dog and was bitten on the arm while trying to stop the attack. The man told police he put the dog in a chokehold before it released its grip on his arm.

Both the man and his dog suffered bite and puncture wounds from the attack.

Police were trying to find the owner of the attacking dog Friday night and have now turned the case over to Animal Control, said Pedigo.
