Man stabs his mother Tuesday in Bloomington

A 25-year-old man stabbed his 67-year-old mother multiple times Tuesday, according to Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo.

The mother was taken to IU Health Bloomington hospital for treatment of her injuries. The son was arrested and is being charged with attempted murder.

Here is the text of an info release sent to the media by the BPD:

“On December 21st, 2021 at approximately 4:45 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 3800 block of S Mill Stone Way in reference to a reported stabbing. The complainant, a 67-year-old woman, advised Central Emergency Dispatch that she had just been stabbed multiple times in her torso, neck and head by her 25-year-old son. Officers eventually located the suspect walking just south of Winslow Road on the Jackson Creek Trail, where he was taken into custody without incident. The victim was transported to the IU Health Bloomington Hospital by ambulance for treatment of her injuries. She was able to speak with investigators and provided a statement at the hospital. Investigators were also able to interview the suspect, identified as Gregory M. Godinich, at the Bloomington Police Department. After interview, Gregory Godinich was transported to the Monroe County Jail and remanded to jail custody for the charge of Attempted Murder, level 1 felony.”
