Shots fired at moving car Tuesday in Bloomington

Police are looking for a man who used a handgun to shoot at a moving car Tuesday in Bloomington Tuesday, according to Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo.

Officers were dispatched around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday people after receiving multiple reports of shots fired in the 1200 block of North Crescent. Surveillance footage showed a man firing a weapon at a small passenger car.

The BPD is asking anybody with information about the shooting to call Detective Wade Berry at (812)339-4477.

Here is the text of a news release sent to the Bloomingtonian by the BPD:

“On December 21st, 2021 at approximately 1:50 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of N Crescent Road in reference to multiple calls of shots fired in the area. Upon the arrival of officers, no victims were located, but officers did locate four spent .380 caliber shell casings on both the sidewalk and the parking lot near a playground in the apartment complex. Investigators were able to review surveillance footage of the incident. In the footage, it appears that a male and a female are walking through the lot when a small dark-colored passenger car drives through the parking lot. As the vehicle passes the two subjects, the male who was walking produces a handgun and begins firing in the direction of the passenger car. The car can then be seen speeding off to the north and the two individuals on foot begin running from the area. 

No injuries were believed to be caused by the shooting and officers did not locate any property that appeared to be damaged. The case remains active. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Detective Wade Berry at (812)339-4477.”
