Jordan Avenue extension to be named after Indiana jazz legend David Baker

In a News at IU Bloomington press release, Indiana University has announced Tuesday the board of trustees will rename the Jordan Extension after the late jazz musician and professor David Baker.

Jordan Avenue was recently renamed Eagleson Avenue in honor of the Eagleson family, who have had ties to IU and Bloomington since the 1800s.

“The northern extension of Jordan Avenue is offset from the southern portion at 17th Street, making it a distinct segment of the street. In addition, the northern extension is entirely owned by IU, and therefore provided an opportunity to honor an individual with strong ties to the university,” said Beth Feickert in IU’s press release.
