
The Monroe Fire Protection District fought a fire at a house on Vera Drive south of Bloomington early Wednesday morning, according to a press release from MFPD.
There were no injuries, and the fire was caused accidentally.

“Vera Dr Structure Fire
Monroe County, Indiana, February 16, 2022 – Monroe Fire Protection District was called to Vera Dr, around 3:45am this morning for a structure fire.
Fire units arrived to find fire and smoke coming from the left side of the home. The homeowner confirmed that everyone made it out of the house prior to fire department’s arrival. Firefighters deployed hose lines to the basement where they found moderate fire and smoke conditions that were threatening to spread to the main level of the structure. The fire was extinguished limiting it’s spread, and crews checked the rest of the home for any extension and hot spots. Crews also used positive pressure fans to remove the smoke out of the home.
The Red Cross was contacted to assist the homeowners. The cause of the fire was found to be accidental. No injuries reported.
Monroe Fire District was assisted on the scene by IU Health Ambulance Service, Monroe County Sheriff Office, Duke Energy, Red Cross.
