Person dies after jumping from parking garage Thursday in Bloomington

A person believed to be experiencing homelessness died from injuries sustained from jumping off an Indiana University parking garage on Atwater and Henderson, according to Monroe County Coroner Joani Stalcup.

The Indiana University Police Department treated the scene as attempted suicide and didn’t suspect foul play, according to IUPD Deputy Chief Shannon Bunger.

Police were dispatched to the garage Thursday around 1:41 p.m.

Police taped off the area during the investigation.

The name of the deceased was not released by Friday morning pending notification of next of kin.
