Update – Monroe County Coroner Joani Stalcup sent the following to the Bloomingtonian Sunday:
“The Monroe County Coroner’s office along with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred Friday, 2/25/2022 around 10:00pm in the 3700 block of Lost Mans Lane near Lauren Lane in northwest Monroe County near Ellettsville. It was a single vehicle accident and the driver of the vehicle, identified as (REDACTED), 16 of Bloomington, was pronounced dead on the scene. The vehicle was apparently traveling east on Lost Mans Lane at the time of the accident. Speed is believed to have been a factor. Toxicology testing is pending however it is not believed to have been a contributing factor.”

The driver of a vehicle died of injuries after a crash Friday night, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Troy Thomas.
Emergency services were dispatched to the 3700 block of W. Lost Mans Lane around 10 p.m. Friday night for a single vehicle crash. A 2000 model Volkswagen left the roadway, rolled over, and caused fatal injuries to the driver, according to Thomas.
The accident damaged a power pole and caused a power outage to the immediate area. Thomas told the Bloomingtonian that Monroe County Sheriff’s Reconstruction Sgt. Bennett Dillion was still investigating the crash. The Monroe County Coroner also responded, according to the Ellettsville Fire Department.
Members of the Ellettsville Fire Department, Indiana State Police, and others responded to the scene. The road was closed after the crash before being reopened.
The area where the crash occurred is in a section of Bloomington that is part of the county, but the Ellettsville Fire Department is responsible for the area.
