Free Haircuts for those Experiencing Homelessness or Leaving Incarceration
“Caring Cuts” – established in January 2022
[BLOOMINGTON, IN, February –] New Leaf, New Life, Shear Sass, and Bent Barbershop have partnered to provide free haircuts to individuals leaving incarceration and/or experiencing homelessness. The program, titled Caring Cuts, began in January 2022, and will allow New Leaf, New Life to provide ten referrals for free haircuts each month – five for Bent Barbershop and five for Shear Sass.
The goal of the program is to provide another resource to assist individuals with getting back on their feet, especially finding employment. “When people are leaving incarceration, or experiencing homelessness, it’s a battle every day to meet basic needs and survive – let alone gain employment. We already assist folks with getting their birth certificate (needed for employment) and purchasing work appropriate attire and footwear. So, finding a way to offer haircuts is another valuable and critical resource for folks to succeed. We’re very grateful for Bent Barbershop and Shear Sass,” said New Leaf, New Life Executive Director Jordan McIntire.
If you’re interested in obtaining a referral, please contact New Leaf, New Life at (812)355-6842, or stop by our office: 1010 S Walnut Street, Suite H.
New Leaf, New Life is a local 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization whose mission is to support residents during their incarceration and in their transition back into our community.”
