Bloomington, Ind. – The City of Bloomington and its Mayor John Hamilton have proclaimed
March 14 as Hand Sanitizer Day, honoring the day that Cardinal Spirits craft distillery began
producing and distributing hand sanitizer amid a national shortage in 2020.
Cardinal Spirits, the craft distillery founded in 2015 in Bloomington, Ind., is known for producing
award-winning spirits and canned cocktails, but it temporarily shifted its entire production to
hand sanitizer when the pandemic began. The distillery donated much of its hand sanitizer to
first responders and emergency organizations, and gave away hand sanitizer free of charge to
individuals in the community every day, too.
To show appreciation for the City of Bloomington’s proclamation, Cardinal Spirits will celebrate
Hand Sanitizer Day by once again giving away an unlimited amount of its hand sanitizer to the
community: free gallons for individuals, and free bulk orders (10+ gallons) for organizations,
businesses, and groups, from March 14-31, 2022. Hand sanitizer must be picked up at Cardinal
Spirits, 922 S. Morton St. in Bloomington. Shipping is not available.
Pre-orders for both individual gallons and bulk orders can be made at cardinalspirits.com
starting March 13.
