A person at the residence told members of law enforcement the fire had been intentionally set by a known person who also injured them. Smoke was coming from the house when a deputy from the MCSO arrived.
MSCO Lt. Troy Thomas said the person who allegedly set the fire was located behind the house and was taken into custody to be questioned. But members of the Sheriff’s Office were actively investigating at the scene to determine what occurred.
The Monroe County Fire Protection District released the following statement:
MFD units responded to Ketcham Rd around 6 pm this evening for a structure fire. Fire crews arrived to find smoke coming out of the house. Firefighters made an interior attack on the fire and were able to quickly knock it down. Crews then worked on overhaul options and extinguishing some hot spots in the attic area. The cause of the fire was ruled as incendiary. MFD was assisted on scene by IU Health Ambulance Service, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, and Duke Energy.
