Man dies from gunshot wound Saturday on 10th Street; Police investigating

The Bloomington Police Department is investigating after a 19-year-old man died from a gunshot, according to Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo.

Pedigo said,

“On April 9th at approximately 4:22 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 3200 block of E 10th Street in reference to a call reporting that a man had been shot.

Upon arrival, officers located a 19 year-old man with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The victim was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where he was rushed to an operating room. However, officers were later advised that the victim died prior to emergency surgery beginning.

Investigators interviewed those present in the apartment at the time of the shooting and executed a search warrant at the apartment to collect evidence.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time. It is believed that all involved individuals knew one-another and there is not believed to be any threat to the general public at this time.”

Monroe County Coroner Joani Stalcup said Wednesday, that the preliminary cause of death was a gunshot wound to the abdomen, but the manner of death is pending investigation.
