Republican Sheriff candidate Nathan Williamson kicks off his campaign Sunday night; Competing against Democrat Ruben Marte’ who won the Democratic primary in early May

Nathan Williamson, who is running as a Republican against Democrat Ruben Marte’ for Monroe County Sheriff kicked off his campaign during an event Sunday night at the Mill.

Current Monroe County Sheriff Brad Swain has to step down from his position due to term limits.

Williamson is currently a Sgt. with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Williamson was surrounded by friends, family members, supporters, and Republican party officials as he made a brief speech Sunday night. The speech can be seen here:

Here is Williamson’s opponent Ruben Marte’ thanking members of the Democratic party and other local political organizations, after he beat Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Troy Thomas, and several other opponents, in the primary on May 3, 2022.

Marte’, who is backed by the Monroe County Democratic Party, is currently a Captain with the Indiana State Police.
