Members of United Food and Commercial Workers union representing Bloomington Kroger workers reject new contract

Workers represented by United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 700 have rejected a new three-year union contract with Kroger Grocery Stores, according to a June 3, 2022, post on the local’s Facebook page.

The union represents over 8000 Kroger workers at 68 locations in the Central Indiana region, which includes Indianapolis and Bloomington. Kroger operates five grocery stores in Bloomington and dominates the local supermarket sector after Marsh Supermarkets closed several years ago.

The rejection of the contract means workers will continue working under the current terms and conditions of the contract, according to UFCW 700.
