Abortion access teach-in to be held Friday, August 26, 2022, at Indiana University

An abortion access teach-in will take place Friday, August 26, 2022, from Noon to 1:30 p.m. at Whittenberger Auditorium in the Indiana Memorial Union at Indiana University.

The panel is in response to the Indiana GOP majority legislature passing SB-1 on August 5, 2022, which is a near-total ban on abortion in Indiana. The abortion law, which was immediately signed into law by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, takes effect in Indiana on September 15, 2022.

A flyer for the event says panelists will answer, “What does Indiana’s abortion ban mean for IU students & the IU community?”

The panel, moderated by Beth Grazley, Ph.D., O’Neill School of Public and Environmental affairs features speakers Toni Arcuri, Folklore and Ethnomusicology & IU Unit CWA Local 4818; Jody Madeira, JD, Ph.D., Professor Mauer School of Law; Mary Lou Niezwicki, RN, NP-C, IUB Student Health Center; Shruti Rana JD, Hamilton Lugar School of Global & International Studies; April Sellers JD, Kelley School of Business; I India Thursi, JD Ph.D., Professor Mauer School of Law; and Shelli Yoder, Indiana State Senator D-40, Kelley School of Business.
