Bloomington man arrested after making knife threats on Kirkwood

A 29-year-old Bloomington man was arrested Monday night after threatening people with a knife on Kirkwood Avenue, according to Bloomington Police Captain Ryan Pedigo.

Police were dispatched to Kirkwood around 10:47 p.m. after a report of a man chasing people while brandishing a knife. Members of the Indiana University Police made first contact with the suspect, and attempted to take him into custody. The man resisted arrest as he was being put into a police vehicle.

Police found a fixed blade knife on the suspect.

A 21-year-old man told police the suspect followed him before a verbal confrontation and the brandishing of a knife. The man said he told the knife wielder he didn’t want a problem. The suspect approached him while making overhand stabbing motions.

In another incident, a 42-year-old man told police the suspect brandishing a knife with a 3-4 inch blade made stabbing motions in his face.

There were no injuries in either incident.

The suspect is being charged with level 5 felony intimidation, and resisting law enforcement, an A misdemeanor.
